CAP-TOR/CAP-TOR XD

Cap-Tor / Cap-Tor xd is the only line of deck screws on the market designed specifically for capstock decking. Capstock decking has an extra strong and stable outer layer with natural looking grains and colors. Typical composite decking fasteners cause several defects in the surface of capstock: dimpling, white shear and curled waste. Capstock decks fastened with Cap-Tor have a clean, smooth and uniform appearance. Cap-Tor screws also work equally well in traditional composites.
Cap-Tor / Cap-Tor xd is available in Grade 305 and Grade 316 stainless steel – Headcote Cap-Tor / Cap-Tor xd – and epoxy coated steel – DeckfastCap-Tor / Cap-Tor xd – and is available in different head colors and coatings, matching all the major capstock decking products on the market today.

PROBLEMS WITH TYPICAL DECK FASTENERS AND CAPSTOCK

CURLED WASTE

This can occur if the fastener head does not fully cut through the cap layer, resulting in a slight sloping area of decking around the fastener head.

DIMPLING

Sometimes the dimpling can stretch the cap layer to where the color is slightly deformed, resulting in a faint but noticeable lightening of the dimpled area.

WHITE SHEAR

This can occur when the fastener head does penetrate the cap layer, but there is a ring of excess cap material that stays attached to the board, usually in one spot.
